Ways You and Your Children Can Spread Kindness Together | Drama Kids

While many kindness-spreading initiatives pop up around the holidays, we love the idea of spreading kindness all year long. Especially when things may be uncertain, showing children that they can have an impact on the well-being of those around them can make a lasting impression and help them realize the importance of helping others.

Here are some of our favorite ideas for how families can spread kindness right now:

Leave Art or Other Fun Surprises for Your Neighbors

Kiddos love to show off their crafts, and this is a fun way to let them put their art on display for the whole neighborhood! Creating cute, large-scale drawings to hang in your front windows or an elaborate sidewalk chalk display are fun surprises that your neighbors will delight in as they walk or drive by the house.

Make a Goody Basket for Your Mail Person and Delivery Drivers

This idea is quite common around the holidays, but it is also something fun to do for our hard-working package delivery people as the temperatures start to warm. You and your child can get together and assemble a goody basket of snacks, drinks and encouraging notes for your delivery drivers to thank them for their wonderful work and put a smile into their day!

Put Their Letter Writing Skills to Use for Someone in Need

Despite all the technology available to us, there is really nothing better than receiving a handwritten note in the mail. Encourage your child to write to any family members that might love to hear from them, and also consider getting involved with a program like Letters of Love that distributes letters to lonely seniors.

Do a Trash Walk (With Proper Protective Gear)

Once you start looking around, it is disheartening how much litter you are likely to find on even a short walk through your neighborhood or a local park. Teach kids about doing their part to help the environment by going on a trash walk. Make sure everyone has plenty of gloves, bags and hand sanitizer before setting out, then go on a walk and collect all the trash you find along the way.
