3 Ways to Inspire More Confidence in Kids
Confidence is something that’s vital for a successful life, both personally and professionally. That being said, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the gift of confidence!
How do you go about inspiring confidence in your child? There are many tips and ideas that you can use, but we are covering three of our favorites in this blog.
Inspiring Confidence
When you think about confidence, we usually think of the psychological aspects. Still, physical confidence is something that is especially important.
The signs of being physically confident are:
- Having the willingness to try new things and tackle new challenges
- Being comfortable with different kinds of sports and other physical activities
- Feeling secure in the body’s ability to handle new challenges
- Being aware of limitations and also aware of limits that can be overcome
- Staying mentally tough and not backing down from something challenging
There are many ways you can help promote physical confidence in your child, with two of the best methods including modeling the behavior and allowing your child to make mistakes.
We’ve said it before and will say it again: Our kids are always watching what we do and following our example. Make sure your child sees you taking on a physical challenge of some sort—and sticking with it.
Learning from mistakes is one of the best teachers in life, and it is often through failure that we find the path to success. Encourage your child to try new things and then help him or her work through the lessons learned when mistakes are made.
The second way you can help your children build up confidence is by letting them figure out problems on their own. It’s natural to want to swoop in and help your children out when they are struggling with something—and while in some cases it might be needed, there are some problems and situations that your kids need to know how to navigate on their own.
By allowing your kids to work out some problems on their own and in their own time, you’re helping them discover that they are capable and have the ability to tackle challenges in life.
The third way you can help inspire confidence in your kids is to support their pursuit of a passion. This one is especially close to our hearts, as we are passionate about drama and the difference it can make in the life of a child!
If your kids have shown a passion or interest in something, be respectful and encouraging. Make sure they know you support them in their endeavors, even if it’s something that may not be interesting to you.
